The Easiest Way to Create Videos for Content Marketing

One of the biggest challenges for business owners when it comes to implementing video is producing the videos themselves. You might have a bunch of great ideas and be totally gung-ho about making videos but get hung up on the fact that you don’t have the right equipment or don’t have anyone to put in front of the camera. Well, this is for you… Check out the video for the easiest way to create videos for content marketing.

The main thing to keep in mind from a technical perspective is audio quality. Other than that, the only challenge is ensuring your content is actually useful and gives your audience value.

It doesn’t really matter what type of videos you make, but if they don’t provide value, they can be a waste of time for both you and your audience.

So don’t skimp on value and remember to focus on your audience.

What about you? What type of video content do you prefer?

Video Content Marketing - Why People Want to do Business with People

No matter what business you are in, you have to do business with people. And most of the time, it’s your relationship with people that determines how well your business performs. That’s why using videos can be such a powerful tool. Videos allow customers and prospects to get to know you and, hopefully, like you before, while and after they do business with you. Video content marketing lets you put a face to your business that customers can identify with and feel a sense of rapport with. Videos with you in them help your business separate itself from the many faceless companies people normally deal with.

It’s well-known that people like doing business with people they know, like and trust and video marketing gives you a powerful tool build and maintain that relationship.

Video Content Marketing for Edutige - Teaching Customers About Potential Problems

In this week’s video for Edutige microphones, I want customers to know that even though the iPhone’s built in microphone is much improved, there are still situations that call for an external microphone. The motivation for this video came from a customer who returned his microphone and various other people online who claimed not to need an external microphone for their new iPhone 6, 6s or 7. Video content marketing is all about education and in this case, it’s teaching people about potential problems or issues and what they can do to avoid those problems or issues. https://youtu.be/Qz4MyomkFbI

Here is the original post for Edutige, which can be found here: http://www.edutige.net/best-external-microphone-iphone-reduce-background-noise/

If you use your iPhone for vlogging and find that the built in microphone doesn't do a very good job of recording your voice when there is a lot of background noise, this video is for you. In this video, you will hear the difference between the iPhone's built-in microphone and the Edutige EIM-008 unidirectional external microphone in a vlogging type of situation where there is a lot of background noise. In this case the background noise comes courtesy of a leaf blower that is about 50 feet away.

You will also be interested in this video if you have an iPhone 6 or newer and you have seen videos online, or perhaps even experienced how well the built in microphone works when the sound source is relatively close to the phone. You will see from the video that when there is background noise, the iPhone's built-in microphone falls far short compared to an external lavalier microphone.

What do you think? Is the iPhone's built-in microphone good enough on its own?

Video Content Marketing: What’s Better? Short vs Long Videos

When your business decides it’s 2016 and you should FINALLY get an explainer video, one of the biggest challenges is figuring out what content should go in your video. You want your message to come across clearly so you include as much information as possible. But is this what you should do? What’s better? A short video or a long video?

Check out the my take on this topic and then let me know your thoughts or questions about creating an explainer video for your business.

Logical Promotions Explainer Video

Here is the animated explainer video for Logical Promotions. This video was entered into Brandathon and you can read all about what that was all about on Logical Promotions’ website: https://logicalpromotions.com/blog/creating-a-marketing-video-is-easy-even-for-b2b-companies-n9 https://youtu.be/YvFsA39Glus

As for my part in it, as I mentioned in my other post, I only did the animation. The script and voiceover were already done and they only needed my help with bringing the video to life.

Here’s what John Reiner, Director of Marketing & Customer Experience, had to say about working with me:

"We started with PowToons thinking we could DIY and be done in a few hours. We soon discovered that we were making a crappy cartoon that did not have the look, feel, or tone we wanted. Enter Carl Kwan – our newly found PowToon expert. We had a brief talk with Carl about our hopes and dreams for the animation, and then we laid out the constraints: 1 week to final submission and a fixed budget. He laughed and then accepted out challenge. Within a week he was able to bring our video to life. He even gave us some directing tips for the last segment. We think he crushed it."

Need a video? Let’s talk.

Video Content Marketing - Explainer Video Production Option

When you get an explainer video made from me, usually, I’ll take care of the video from end-to-end. What that means is I write the script, do the voiceover and animate the video. But what if you don’t need all that? What if you already have a script you’re happy with and a voiceover already done, but you just need someone to bring the video to life? No problem. https://youtu.be/bWaGfJph9wQ

I recently made an explainer video for Logical Promotions and that’s exactly what they wanted… me to animate their video because they realized they needed a professional to create a professional result for their business.

Here is what John Reiner, Director of Marketing & Customer Experience at Logical Promotions had to say:

"We started with PowToons thinking we could DIY and be done in a few hours. We soon discovered that we were making a crappy cartoon that did not have the look, feel, or tone we wanted. Enter Carl Kwan – our newly found PowToon expert. One thing I suggest is to have me look over the script before you get the voiceover done. The reason is because I’ll be able to give you some feedback about whether or not the script and resulting video will do the job you want it to. There is a project I’m currently working on where this happened.

I took their almost 5 minute long script, which was way too long, and turned it into a tight, clear and more effective 2 minute and 45 second long script.

Not only is the video going to be better, but a shorter video also equals lower cost to produce. Like having your cake and eating it, too. Nice, huh?

Video Content Marketing - Time Saving Technique to Produce Videos

If you find it challenging to produce marketing videos for your business on a regular basis, then consider batch recording your videos. What you do is prepare 5-10 ideas or topics you want to talk about and film all of the videos in one sitting. Not only will this save time, but it helps you get into a groove when making the videos. You may find yourself thinking about new ideas, easily referencing what you said in another video and maybe, wanting to do more! Batch recording your videos can allow you to outsource the editing, schedule all the videos to be posted and let you get on with other parts of your business. Video content marketing doesn’t have to be hard, especially when you use a time saving technique like batch recording. Good luck!

Simple Performance Tip to Give a Good Presentation [VIDEO]

One of the biggest challenges when giving a presentation is overcoming performance anxiety, for lack of a better term. So in this latest presentation tips video, I go over a simple technique that has helped me and that will hopefully, help others improve their presentation skills. Originally posted at: http://presentationexpressions.com/simple-performance-tip-to-give-a-good-presentation-video

If you are feeling anxious about giving a presentation or you’re nervous about how you will perform, then this video is for you. Giving a presentation can be thought of as a sort of performance. Think about it… You need to stand in front of a group of people, maintain their attention and hopefully, achieve the result you want.

https://youtu.be/_nsriWyjfHk

It’s a performance

Any time you are standing in front of a group of people and talking to them, you are giving a sort of performance. And a performance requires you to play a certain role because you can’t necessarily just be yourself, or just let the content do the talking for you. If you treat the presentation like a performance and you are playing a certain role, it can help make your presentation much more interesting and engaging.

Who are you?

Decide what role or character you need to be when giving your presentation. You can be yourself, but think about adding something unique to this role you’re going to play.

Preparing for your role

A simple way to prepare for your role is to find a person, fictional or a real person, who has the same characteristics you want in your role when you give your presentation. Characters in movies and TV shows are always a good source of inspiration. But be careful not to copy that character. Instead, take what they do and somehow make it your own.

A presentation is a performance. It’s your time to shine. Why not give yourself a chance to do that and stand above everyone else?

Thanks and good luck.
