video marketing for small business

The Training Institute of March of Dimes Canada Explainer Video

What does a non-profit organization with over 65 years of experience helping people with disabilities need with an explainer video? That's the story with March of Dimes Canada and the video they asked me to make for them. Here's the video. Below the video is a bit of talking about why these explainer videos work well for introducing products/services and why March of Dimes chose this type of video, too.

They know their stuff

Turns out that when you've been successfully running an organization that helps disabled Canadians lead independent lives, you learn a thing or two about training your team. And those valuable lessons are now available to other organizations with the Training Institute of March of Dimes Canada.

Now to promote the training

But like many organizations, it's not always easy to explain a product or service, especially when people visit your website to learn about your product or service.

March of Dimes Canada recognized this issue and knew that an explainer video would be a great way to introduce the Training Institute to potential clients. It's important that people easily understand what you're offering; otherwise, they can quickly click away.

Your turn

Don't let customers slip away without letting them get to know what you have to offer. A video is like a salesperson who works 24/7 and is more powerful than your website alone.

Get in touch and let's talk about how we can make video work for you.

Understanding Your Target Audience is Critical - Canada Place English Explainer Video

Canada Place English is an English language school based in Spain, just outside of Barcelona. They are in a highly competitive industry where schools are vying for the attention of customers looking for roughly the same thing. Therefore, the goal for this video was to quickly demonstrate the primary benefits of Canada Place English and why they are a better choice. https://youtu.be/1dsebVnMS_k

We also had a goal to make this a one minute long video, instead of my usual 1:30. This was a challenge but it meant really zeroing in on the core issues faced by the audience and how Canada Place English relieves those issues.

Here is what Ruben Herrera from Canada Place English had to say about the video and production process:

“We are in the highly competitive private education industry and wanted to add video to our marketing mix to help differentiate our school and get our message out. We hired Carl to produce the video because of the quality of his work. Carl was able to skillfully reshape our initial idea into a one minute long script and he also provided a professional voiceover that brought the script to life. The video itself was exactly what we had hoped for. It was very easy working with Carl, as he was quick in responding to emails and listened to feedback, while also adding his own touches to the video. Overall, it was an exceptional experience working with Carl and we are extremely pleased with the resulting video. We would be more than happy to recommend Carl for any type of video marketing project.”

If you need to communicate your message so that it’s actually heard by your target market, let’s talk about how an explainer video like this can help do the job.

Edutige Video Marketing: Simple Product Comparison Videos

Whenever you have a number of products that your customers have to choose between, it’s always a good idea to create a video to demonstrate the differences. There are a number of very good reasons for doing so, such as:

  1. People hate buying the wrong thing, and often have a hard time finding accurate or relevant information. A comparison video educates them to make the right purchase.
  2. Gives a good experience to your customers, which builds trust in your company. This can help you stand out amongst your competitors and provides a story for your customers to tell others.
  3. Reduces the number of questions and time spent answering questions. Videos that inform your customers empowers them. They can now ask intelligent questions, or be able to make a buying decision in less time.

So think about how you can create some simple product comparison videos to help your customers become better customers. Check out the video to see an example of how you could make a product comparison video.

The original post on Edutige is below and here: http://www.edutige.net/external-microphone-canon-eos-m/

The Canon EOS M is an awesome camera. Don’t let people tell you it’s not, especially for video. I have had one for a couple of years and I love it. It made it easy to replace my Canon DSLR. One great thing is that the EOS M has an external microphone jack, so in this video, you’ll see three options for microphones and what each is good for.

Hope that helps with your decision making. Let me know if you have any questions or experience with our mics or others.

Thanks.

Video Content Marketing for Edutige - Using Follow Up Videos

Last week after posting a video about how to properly put on a lavalier microphone, I was asked why I didn’t show putting the microphone on a t-shirt when I had mentioned it in the video. This is a great example of why I love video marketing, or social media in general, because you get to connect directly with your target audience and interact with them immediately. So after reading that particular comment about the t-shirt thing, I told the person that I would make a follow up video to answer their question. And so I did, of course.

https://youtu.be/F_OWfO22_7o

The main takeaway is not being afraid to engage with your audience and to use video as a tool to form deeper connections with people.

Even if the person doesn’t buy from us, it’s fine. I’m happy to know we’ve planted a seed of good experience is their mind, which all too often doesn’t happen when consumers engage with brands.

Here’s the post I wrote, which can be found at: http://www.edutige.net/put-lavalier-microphone-t-shirt/

How to Put a Lavalier Microphone on a T-Shirt

Last week I taught you how to properly put on a lavalier microphone and this week you’ll learn how to put a lavalier mic on a t-shirt. Thanks to Nyx Goldstone for the suggestion!

I also got rid of the opening introduction where my kid is swinging around just to get to the video a little quicker. I’m guessing most people tried to fast forward past that part, anyway :)

So in addition to learning how to put a lavalier microphone on a t-shirt, I’ve also included how to hide a lavalier microphone under your clothing.

This little trick is fairly well-known but in case you haven’t seen it, this is for you.

Sometimes we don’t want the lav mic to be seen so this is pretty useful to know how to hide the microphone.

If there is anything else you’d like to learn, let me know and I’ll do my best to help you out.

Thanks.

Video Content Marketing for Edutige: How a Video Series Helps Customers

One way to create video content is by producing a series of videos about a particular topic. In this case, I’ve made three videos covering different microphones that can be connected to an iPhone using the Apple Lightning to headphone adapter cable. The purpose was to reassure people that their microphones can work with the iPhone 7’s Lightning port; in other words, it was a way to reduce the fear and anxiety of the unknown. Video content marketing is first and foremost about educating your customers or clients, helping them get over any fears or apprehensions they may have about doing business with you, or seeking you out to help them. Yes, videos can be used to build your brand but that’s only scratching the surface because those videos don’t always demonstrate the real value your business provides. At least that’s the way I see it.

What about you? How could video content marketing be used in your industry?

https://youtu.be/1H7k6BckHY4

The post from Edutige is here: http://www.edutige.net/edutige-eim-001-external-microphone-iphone-using-lightning-adapter/

http://www.edutige.net The EIM-001 microphone for iPhone or iPad is great for vlogging, birding or recording audio. But what if you have an iPhone 7 and need to use the Lightning to headphone adapter? Will you still be able to use an external microphone like the EIM-001? Well, yes, you can. And it works really well.

The only issue I find with the Lightning to headphone adapter cable when using a microphone like the EIM-001, is that the cable is flopping around. This wasn’t an issue with previous generation iPhones because we could plug the external microphone directly into the iPhone headphone jack.

Anyway, it is what it is, right? If you want to connect an external microphone to an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, then you need to use the Lightning to headphone adapter cable. The great thing is that it works perfectly with our Edutige microphones.

Let me know if you have any questions about what microphone to choose for your device or situation.

Video Content Marketing - Why People Want to do Business with People

No matter what business you are in, you have to do business with people. And most of the time, it’s your relationship with people that determines how well your business performs. That’s why using videos can be such a powerful tool. Videos allow customers and prospects to get to know you and, hopefully, like you before, while and after they do business with you. Video content marketing lets you put a face to your business that customers can identify with and feel a sense of rapport with. Videos with you in them help your business separate itself from the many faceless companies people normally deal with.

It’s well-known that people like doing business with people they know, like and trust and video marketing gives you a powerful tool build and maintain that relationship.

Check out the video for more info and let me know your thoughts on what video can do to build relationships.

Video Content Marketing - Why Before & After Videos are Awesome

When you create videos to help market your business, you might get stuck with ideas for what to say or what type of videos to make. A simple way is to look at traditional marketing campaigns or techniques for inspiration. And one of the best, and most effective, is before and after. Have a look at the video to learn more about using before and after and a quick example, too. https://youtu.be/FCFcuQvcNTY

Video Content Marketing for Edutige: Before & After Test of iPhone Built In Mic vs Edutige Mic

When showing how your product or service helps your customers, a simple before and after comparison can often be the most effective method to do so. And video is the perfect medium for a before and after because customers can clearly see, and in this case, hear, the difference. A before and after video quickly identifies who the target audience is, what the end goal will be, and how the customer can achieve the same result. https://youtu.be/l2HfZ9eS6Rc

Video content marketing can easily borrow ideas from other forms of marketing, with the added benefit of being highly visual and engaging.

How can you use a before and after video to demonstrate your product or service? Would love to hear about your experience.

Here is the original post on the Edutige website:

If you have an iPhone 6, 6s or iPhone 7, the built in microphone is pretty good, especially if you’re into vlogging with your iPhone. You might even think you don’t need an external microphone anymore. But what about when it’s windy? Here’s a before and after comparing the iPhone 6’s built in microphone vs the Edutige EIM-001 external microphone with an EWS-003 furry windscreen. I think you’ll see why an external microphone with a furry windscreen is still an essential tool for vlogging or making videos with your iPhone.

Will Video Marketing Really Help My Business?

Even though video marketing seems to dominate the headlines when it comes to “the next big thing” for businesses, there is still some apprehension. That fear of not knowing if video marketing will really help your business. The unknown is possibly even greater when it comes to video content marketing because most business owners are not familiar with the entire production and usage of video. Totally understand. Hopefully, this video will help you get off the fence and see that there isn’t really anything to fear. Hopefully.

Video Content Marketing for Edutige: Recording Car Exhaust Sounds with a GoPro

In this video content marketing video for Edutige, I do things a little differently. We know that many customers want to record the exhaust sounds of their cars...usually modified, fast cars and not slow-poke station wagons like mine. So as luck would have it, a customer of ours makes a video recording the exhaust of his bad a** Mustang. I asked if I could share the video and so what I did was take some parts of the video to create the video you see here. Any time you can get your customers, your community, to contribute to your video content marketing, you’re going to win over new customers. The level of trust this type of user generated content creates is incredible. But to get there, you have to make sure your products/services are up to snuff and that you’re also taking care of those people.

Sounds simple enough, doesn’t it?

https://youtu.be/b3T4SeSlP-Y

Here is the post from Edutige and this is where the original article was published: http://www.edutige.net/recording-car-exhaust-sounds-gopro-mounting-microphone/

In this video, you’ll learn about recording exhaust sounds with a GoPro and about mounting the microphone. Ibrahim, a customer in India, bought one of our Action Bundles for GoPro and mounted the ETM-001 with the EWS-003 windscreen onto the bumper of his wicked Mustang using a GoPro suction mount. Very cool!

What’s even cooler is the sound of the car’s exhaust, and the fact that there is no vibration or wind noise.

Be sure to check out Ibrahim’s full video and his YouTube channel for more cool car videos.
